House Giveaway, Austereo, Adelaide 2007
A competition was run in July and August 2007 by the makers of Sunsilk and Dove to give away not only thousands of dollars in cash, but a house in Byron Bay. The announcement of the winner was given to Hamish and Andy, the hilarious presenters of the afternoon radio program on Fox FM and the national Austereo network. These boys, in a stroke of brilliance, thought to send a marching band out with the aim of marching to the winner’s house for the announcement, along with a troupe of carnival performers.

With a weeks’ notice Itchy Feet were put on standby to travel wherever the winner was drawn, and two days before the announcement a name was pulled from the proverbial hat. And Adelaide was the location! So on Friday 3rd August 2007 the team boarded a bus, then a plane and headed west to make someone’s day.
The performance was a one-hour, four kilometre march to the winner’s house. Along the way the band made live crosses on air until they arrived at their destination. With Horgs the Fox FM representative in the lead and the carnival team in tow the troupe snuck up to the house, rang the doorbell, and announced the winner live on air.
The Itchy Feet Pep Band was able to prove itself as a flexible ensemble that can cope with different circumstances. They are able to cater for literally any request. The feedback received from everyone involved was glowing.
Listen to the most hilarious gig we have ever done...
